Manchester United stayed closer to Manchester City with 2-1 win over Arsenal at Emirates Stadium. Goal from Antonio Valencia and Danny Welbeck were enough to see off Arsenal and restore 3 points gap with Premier league leaders. Premier league top scorer,  Robin van Persie scored his 18 premier league goal of the season but was not enough to stop Sir Alex Ferguson club. The gunners lost to United 8-2 in the first round Arsenal vs Manchester United encounter. Earlier Manchester City grabbed a 3-2  late minute win over Tottenham.

Chris Smalling fell down allowed Tomas Rosicky  to snatch the ball and presented Van Persie with goal scoring opportunity, he hit the ball with left foot just ten yards in front of the gaping goal but surprisingly the ball went wide and it his Van Persie miss. What a miss for top striker!!

Manchester united won 3-2 against ten men Manchester City in Manchester derby FA cup match. City played almost 80 minutes with ten men and yet managed to threat United win and nearly snatched an equalizer on final minutes.

Kompany was sent off for raised to foot tackle, at least that is what Chris Foy thought and ended City FA cup dream. Replay show Kompany tackling with two feet but extended his right foot wide and stopped the ball with the inside on the right foot. There was little contact with Nani who did not fall down and the superb tackle. It was a two raise foot tackle, but does that alone qualify it to be a serious foul play?

"We will do an appeal and I am sure that we will win an appeal Roberto Mancini said and went on to add. "There is no way Vincent shouldn't play against Liverpool in the Carling Cup semi-final on Wednesday."
Mancini is very confident he will be able to turn around the red card decision. added: "I don't want to talk about this incident. It was 300% not a sending off." He added.

If the red card stand Kompany will face four match ban, which include two Carling cup semi final legs against Liverpool and tough premier league match against the on form Tottenham Spurs. With Yahya and Kolo Toure already left for African cup of Nations, City will try their best to see the ban removed or even reduced by FA.

Manchester City failed to capitalize on Chelsea and Manchester City slip up as they surrender all three points to Sunderland with 1-0 defeats. Video replay showed Ji was offside before he score but linesman was poorly positioned to see.

Narrow win for Manchester united to stay second as couple of injuries face both clubs
Phil Jones scored his first goal for Manchester United and the only goal of the matches to secure victory over Aston Villa and prolong United record over Villa to 16 years. Injuries continue mounting for both clubs as Hernandez, Shay Given and Jermaine Jenas got injured during the game.

Andre Villas-Boas was impressed by team performance despite failure of Chelsea player to convert easy chance especially by Didier Drogba, Daniel Sturridge Penalty miss by Frank Lampard. Arsenal crushed Wigan Athletic 4-0 with goals coming from four different player Mikel Arteta (28'), Thomas Vermaelen (29'), Gervinho (61') and the current premiership top scorer Robin Van Persie (78') who added his goals tally to 14. Arsenal have now moved to fifth place in the Barclays Premier League table as Wigan being sent to 20th position due to poor goal difference.

Wayne Rooney scored his first hat-trick of the season as Manchester United beat Arsenal FC 8-2 at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney scored two goals from free kick with same styles before converting a penalty to earn his hat-trick.

Ashley Young scored twice all goals scored with his same favourite style with a curl to the top right corner and he assisted other three goals. Other Man utd scorers were Danny Welbeck, Nani and Park Ji-Sung. Arsenal goals were scored by Theo Walcott and Robin van Persie who earlier missed a penalty that would make the score 1-1.
